To choreograph means to create and arrange the movements for a dance or performance. It is used in dance, theater, music videos, and sometimes in a wider sense for planning movement carefully. The person who does this is called a choreographer.

choreograph はギリシャ語 khoreia「合唱舞踊」+ graphein「書く」に由来し、choreo-「踊り」+ -graph「書く」と分けられる。chorus や graphic と同根で、振り付けが「動きをその場で思いつく」より「踊りを書いて設計する」行為だとわかる。
Choreograph comes from Greek roots meaning "dance" and "write." It is built from khoreia, related to chorus, and graphein, "to write," which also appears in graphic. The word developed from the idea of writing down or planning dances, and then came to mean designing movement for performance.
