Christianization is the process of making a person, group, or society become Christian or more influenced by Christianity. It is often used in history, religion, and cultural studies. The word usually refers to change over time, not one single event.

Christian はラテン語 Christianus、もとはギリシャ語 Khristos「油を注がれた者」に由来し、-ize と -ation が付いて「キリスト教化すること」。christen や anoint を見ると、信仰名が「ある状態へ変える」語になった流れが見える。
