共産主義

工場・土地・資本などの生産手段の私的所有を廃し、その共同所有を基礎として階級のない社会を目指す政治・経済思想。個人の衣服や日用品など、持ち物一般の所有を一律に否定するという意味ではない。
Communism is a political and economic system in which property, production, and resources are owned or controlled by the community or the state. It is based on the idea of reducing social classes and sharing wealth more equally. The word is often used in discussions of politics, history, and ideology.

communism はフランス語 communisme を経て英語に入り、もとはラテン語 communis「共有の・皆に共通の」に由来します。語幹 commun- は「共に」、-ism は「主義」。common や community と同根で、「皆で共有する考え方」から共産主義の意味になります。
