覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
currently は current（現在の・現行の）に -ly が付いた形だと見ると覚えやすいです。まず current situation / current status が分かれば、「その“現在の状態で”」→「現在は」と発想できます。会話では now より少しかためで、currently working on, currently available, currently living in Tokyo のように、進行中のことや一時的な現状説明で頻出します。永続的事実より「今のところはこう」という響き。recently（最近）と形が似ていますが、currently は“今”、recently は“少し前”なので混同しないのがコツです。

currently は current + -ly から成り、current はラテン語 currere「走る」由来の current-「流れている」に基づきます。currency や occur が近い親類です。時間が「今まさに走っている最中」という感覚から、「現在」という意味が生まれました。
