disaggregation は dis-「離して」＋aggregation＋-ation で、aggregate はラテン語 aggregare「群れに集める」に由来し、ad-「へ」＋grex/greg-「群れ」から成ります。aggregate や gregarious と同根で、「集まったものを群れからほどく」と考えると「分解」の意味がつかめます。
Disaggregation is built from dis-, meaning "apart," and aggregation. Aggregate comes from Latin aggregare, "to gather into a flock," from ad- and grex or greg-, meaning "flock" or "group." The word therefore developed from the idea of undoing a gathered mass into separate parts. It is related to aggregate and gregarious.
