「even so」は、前の文に否定的な情報や反対意見があっても、そのまま話を先に進めるときに使う。「そうであっても」という逆説的な接続詞で、状況が変わらない事実を強調する。話し手が予想外の結果やあきらめない姿勢を強調するときに「even so」を置き、前の内容とのわずかな距離感を示す。
Even so means despite that or in spite of what was just said. It is used to show contrast when a fact is true, but another statement is still also true.

evenは古英語efen（平らな、等しい）から。soは古英語swā（そのように）。「それほど等しく（事実であって）も」→「それでも」という譲歩の意味に発展した。関連語：even（均等な）、evening（日が平らになる時＝夕方）。
Even comes from Old English efen, meaning "level," "equal," or "flat." So comes from Old English swā, meaning "in that way." In even so, the idea developed from "equal to that" or "despite that being so" into the modern concessive meaning "nevertheless" or "all the same."
