「and yet」は「それなのに」「それでも」といった逆接を表す語で、前の内容に対して予想外の続きや対立した状況を示したいときに使う。文章や会話の流れを自然につなげる接続表現。
And yet is used to introduce a surprising contrast after what was said before. It is similar to 'however' or 'nevertheless' and connects two ideas that do not seem to match.
