gentlemanを短くした、くだけた、またはやや古風な語で、成人男性や紳士を指す。複数形の gents は呼びかけに使われ、イギリス英語では the gents が男性用トイレを意味することもある。
An informal, sometimes old-fashioned shortening of gentleman, used for an adult man or a man regarded as polite and respectable. It also appears in the plural gents in forms of address and on signs for men’s toilets.
