Harmonise means to make different things work well together or agree with each other. In music, it can mean adding notes or voices that sound good together; this is the British spelling of harmonize.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
harmonise はまず harmony（調和）を見抜けると覚えやすい語。そこに「〜にする」感覚の動詞形がつき、「調和を作る」「うまく一致させる」と取れる。harmonious や harmonic も同じ仲間。harmonise with ... で「…と調和する」が頻出で、colours harmonise, policies should be harmonised のように色・音・意見・制度まで広く使える。単なる agree より、複数の要素がかみ合って全体に統一感が出る感じ。英国式は -ise、米国式は harmonize。
