対立する人や立場を仲直りさせる、食い違う考えや事実を矛盾なく一致させる、記録同士を照らし合わせて差異がないか確認する、という意味の動詞。人間関係の修復から意見の調整、会計上の照合まで幅広い文脈で使われる。
To reconcile means to make people, ideas, or facts agree after there has been conflict or difference. It is often used when two people become friendly again, or when you try to connect two opposite things in a reasonable way. It can also mean checking two sets of information to make sure they match, especially in business or accounting.
