Irreconcilable means so different or opposed that they cannot be brought into agreement. It is often used for ideas, beliefs, or differences between people that cannot be settled or combined.

まず中心の reconcile を覚えるとよいです。concile 単独ではなく、reconcile で「仲直りさせる・食い違いを一致させる」。そこに ir- が付くと否定、-able で「できる」。つまり irreconcilable は「一致させることができない」。単なる different や disagree より強く、妥協不能・共存不能の響きがあります。ニュースや議論では irreconcilable differences, irreconcilable conflict の形で見ておくと定着しやすいです。
