hyaline は後期ラテン語 hyalinus、さらにギリシャ語 hyalos「ガラス」由来で、語幹 hyal- が「ガラス状の透明さ」を示します。hyaloid や hyaloplasm と同根で、単に透明というより「ガラスみたいに均質で澄む」という感じが見える語です。
