injurious はラテン語 iniuria（不正・権利侵害）にさかのぼり、in-「〜でない」+ ius/jur「法・権利」が核です。justice や jury と同じ語根をもち、「正しさや法から外れるもの」から「有害な」という感覚になります。
Injurious goes back to Latin iniuria, meaning "wrong," "injustice," or "violation of rights." It is built from in- "not" and ius or jur, meaning "law" or "right," the same root seen in justice and jury. The idea moved from something unlawful or unfair to something harmful or damaging.
