語源
kerosene は 1852年に作られた語で、ギリシャ語 kēros「ろう・ワックス」+ 化学語尾 -ene から成ります。ろう状成分を含む油だったためこの名が付き、「燃える油」というより「ろうっぽい油」という感覚が語源で、cere と同根です。
