山や川、町並みなど、土地の広がりをひとまとまりとして見たときの景色を指す名詞です。旅行や絵画、写真の説明でよく使われ、見た目の美しさだけでなく、その場所全体の眺めや特徴を述べるときにも用いられます。特に広がりのある眺望を表すことが多い語です。
