足がない状態を表す形容詞。また英国俗語で、ひどく酔っ払った状態を指す。
Legless usually means having no legs or having lost the use of the legs. In informal British English, it can also mean extremely drunk. The second meaning is slang, so it is not suitable in formal situations.

legless は leg「脚」+ -less「〜のない」で、leg は古ノルド語 leggr、-less は古英語 -lēas に由来します。leggings や sleeveless と同じ作りで、もとは「脚がない」ですが、酔って脚が役に立たない状態から「泥酔した」にもなりました。
