light を知っていれば入りやすい語。まず「光そのもの」ではなく、「光で照らすこと／照明設備全体」を指す名詞として覚えると定着しやすい。room lighting, stage lighting, street lighting のように「場所や用途＋lighting」でよく出る。特に lightning（稲妻）とつづりが1字違いで非常に紛らわしいので、lighting は light＋ing、稲妻の n は入らない、とセットで確認すると混同しにくい。
