An objectivist is a person who believes that truth or value should be based on facts rather than personal feelings. The word can also refer specifically to a follower of the philosophy called Objectivism. Its exact meaning depends on the context.

objectivist は objective に -ist が付いた語。objective はラテン語 ob-「前へ」+ jacere「投げる」に由来し、「目の前に投げ出されたもの」から「客観的」の意へ。project や inject も同じ jacere 系で、外へ出す感覚が意味の芯になる。
`Objectivist` comes from `objective` plus the suffix `-ist`. `Objective` goes back to Latin `ob-` meaning "before" and `jacere` meaning "to throw," giving the older image of something "thrown before" the mind or view. From that, it developed the sense of dealing with things as external objects, and it shares the `jacere` root with words like `project` and `inject`.
