proviso は契約書や合意文の最後に出てくる「ただし、〜の場合に限る」を表す語として覚えると残りやすいです。condition よりも「本文に添えられた限定条件」、clause よりも「その中でも制限をかける但し書き」に寄ります。with the proviso that ... の形が頻出。provision と形が似ていますが、provision は「条項・供給・準備」と広く、proviso は“制限を付ける一文”に絞られる、と区別すると混同しにくいです。
Think of this as a formal legal word that often appears in the pattern `with the proviso that ...`. It is narrower than `condition` and more specific than `clause`, because it adds a limiting note. Do not mix it up with `provision`, which has several other meanings.
