rasp はフランス語 raspe を経て入り、さらにゲルマン系の「引っかいて削る」語根にさかのぼります。rake や rasping と同根で、表面を荒くこすって削る手触りが、そのまま「やすり」や耳ざわりな音の意味につながっています。
