reallocation は re-「再び」+ allocate「割り当てる」+ -ion「こと」から成る語です。allocate はラテン語 ad-「〜へ」+ locare「置く」にさかのぼり、location や local と同根なので、「もう一度しかるべき場所に置く」感覚で再割り当てと理解できます。
Reallocation is made from re- meaning "again," allocate, and the noun suffix -ion. Allocate goes back to Latin ad- "to" and locare "to place," so the original idea was putting something in its proper place. Over time, the word came to mean assigning resources or duties, and reallocation means doing that again in a new way. It is related to location and local.
