交通や通信などの経路を別のルートに変更すること。
Rerouting is the act of sending someone or something by a different route than the original one. It is often used for traffic, travel, deliveries, phone calls, or internet data. The word usually suggests a change made because of a problem, delay, or better option.

rerouting は re-「再び」+ route「道筋」+ -ing。route は古フランス語 route、さらにラテン語 rupta「切り開かれた道」に遡り、rupture や routine と同根です。『道をもう一度引き直す』感覚が、迂回や経路変更の意味をそのまま示します。
Rerouting is formed from re- meaning "again," route, and the ending -ing. Route came from Old French and goes back to Latin rupta, literally meaning a road "broken open" or cut through. From that idea of a path made through land, rerouting came to mean sending something along a different path or drawing the path again. Related words include rupture.
