演劇などで登場人物が一人で自分の考えや感情を語る独白のこと。
A soliloquy is a speech in which a person speaks their thoughts aloud when they are alone or seem to be alone. It is especially used in plays and literature. This word is more formal than everyday words like "talking to yourself."

Notice the first part: soli- sounds like solo, one person alone. A soliloquy is not a dialogue with someone else, and it is more theatrical than everyday speech. Picture a Shakespeare character speaking private thoughts out loud on stage.
