勝つ可能性がある、または勝利に向けて有利な状態を示す形容詞です。試合やゲームで勝てそうな状況を説明するときに使用します。
Winnable means possible to win or succeed in. It is commonly used for games, elections, arguments, or competitions when victory seems realistic. It does not mean winning is certain, only that it can be done.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
まず `win` が見えることを確認し、そこに `-able` = 「〜できる」が付いた形だと押さえると覚えやすいです。つまり直感的に「勝つことができる」。`a winnable game / race / election` のように、まだ勝ってはいないが「展開しだいで十分勝てる」場面でよく使います。`winning` は「勝っている・勝利の」、`winnable` は「勝てそう」という違い。反対の `unwinnable` もセットで覚えると定着します。
This one is easy to break apart: `win` + `-able`. So it means something like `able to be won`, as in `a winnable game` or `a winnable election`. Compare it with `winning`: `winning` means already succeeding, but `winnable` means still possible to win.
