anorak はグリーンランド・イヌイット語 annoraaq「フード付き外衣」から英語に入った語です。分解語ではありませんが、極地で身を守る服の名がそのまま借用されたので、「防寒フード付き上着」という意味が腑に落ちます。
`Anorak` came into English from Greenland Inuit `annoraaq`, the name of a hooded outer garment. It was borrowed as a whole word rather than built from English parts. The meaning stayed close to the original, keeping the idea of a protective cold-weather coat from Arctic life.
