橋頭堡
解説 Definition
川や橋を渡った先の敵地側に築く前進拠点や防御陣地のこと。そこを足がかりにさらに進軍・進出するための軍事用語で、比喩的には新しい市場や分野へ入り込むための足場も指す。
A bridgehead is a strong position taken on the other side of a river or similar barrier, especially in military action. More generally, it can mean an early foothold for further progress in business, politics, or another field. Usage note: it is used both literally and figuratively.
