A deliverable is a piece of work that must be completed and given to a client, teacher, or team as part of a project. It is commonly used in business and project management, and it can be a document, product, report, or other finished result.

deliverable は deliver + -able。deliver は古フランス語 delivrer、さらにラテン語 liberare「自由にする」に由来し、「手を離して渡せるもの」から仕事での「提出・納品できる成果物」になった。関連語は liberate, liberty。
Deliverable comes from deliver plus the suffix -able. Deliver came into English through Old French delivrer, from Latin liberare, meaning "to set free," and it is related to liberty and liberate. The sense moved from freeing or handing over something into the modern business idea of something that can be handed in or passed on. The word keeps that basic idea of being able to be given over.
