主にラテンアメリカのスペイン語圏で、外国人、とくに米国人を指して使われる語。文脈によっては単なる呼び名として使われることもあるが、相手をよそ者として見たり侮蔑的に響いたりすることもあるため、使用には注意が必要である。英語でもそのまま借用されることがある。
Gringo is a word used in some Spanish- or Portuguese-speaking places for a foreigner, especially someone from the United States or another English-speaking country.
