incursion はラテン語 incursio に由来し、in-「中へ・向かって」+ currere「走る」が核です。incur や current と同じ語根をもち、「中へ走り込むこと」だと捉えると、ただ入るのでなく勢いよく侵入する感じがそのまま意味に残っています。
Incursion comes from Latin incursio, from in- meaning "into" and currere meaning "to run." The original image is of running into a place. That sense of quick or forceful entry stayed in the word as it developed in English. It shares its root with incur and current.
