浸出する
解説 Definition
液体が固体や土壌を通して成分を徐々に浸出し抽出される化学的なプロセスです。濾過や浸透などにより成分が移動していきます。有害物質が環境中に浸出することも含まれます。
To leach means to remove a substance from something as water or another liquid passes through it. It is often used in science, farming, and environmental topics. It can also mean that a chemical or mineral slowly moves out into soil or water.

leachは古英語leccan「湿らせる、水を引く」にさかのぼり、北欧語の影響を受けてleakと近い仲間になりました。水がしみ通るうちに成分を外へ引き出す感覚から「浸出する」となり、意味の流れが見えます。関連語はleak、leachate。
Leach goes back to Old English leccan, meaning to moisten or let liquid pass through. It later became closely linked with leak, partly through Norse influence and similar sound and meaning. The sense developed from liquid seeping through something to the idea of washing substances out by that process.
