解説 Definition
何かが起こる見込みが高いこと、またはそう考えるのがもっともらしいことを表す形容詞です。be likely to ... の形で「〜しそうだ」、the likely cause の形で「ありそうな原因」のように使われ、予測や推量を述べるときに頻繁に用いられます。
If something is likely, it will probably happen or is probably true. It shows a strong chance, but not complete certainty. It is often used for predictions, results, and possible reasons.
