解説 Definition
地質学で、既存の岩石が高温や高圧などの影響を受けて鉱物組成や組織を変えた状態を表す形容詞。metamorphic rockで「変成岩」のように用いられ、火成岩・堆積岩と並ぶ岩石分類や地質過程の説明で重要な語である。
