解説 Definition
ある地域に生まれたり由来したりしていない、外来の状態を示す形容詞。移民や帰化した動植物など、その土地の本来の住人ではないことを指す。
If someone or something is nonnative, it is not original or natural to a particular place, language, or environment. The word is often used in language learning and biology. For example, a nonnative speaker learned the language later, not from early childhood.

native をまず「その土地に自然に根づいた人・言語・生物」と押さえると、nonnative はその否定で素直に取れます。non-native speaker なら「母語話者ではない人」、nonnative species なら「外来種」。foreign は単に外国の、alien は異質・よそ者っぽさが強めで、nonnative は『本来そこに属していない』という中立的な説明に近い語。language と ecology の両方で見る語なので、speaker / species をセットで覚えると定着しやすい。
