Memory Tip
Build it from `occasion` plus `-ally`. The idea is not something regular, but something that happens on some occasions. On a frequency scale, it is less than `often` but more than `rarely`.

Etymology
ラテン語 occasio(好機、きっかけ)から。 occasion(機会)、accident(事故)と同根。
Occasionally comes from occasion, which comes from Latin occasio, meaning a chance or event. It is related to cadere, "to fall," with the older sense of something that "falls upon" a person or situation. From the idea of chances arising from time to time, it came to mean "now and then."
