寛容なとは、規則や制限を厳しく適用せず、相手の行動を広く許す態度のことです。人の考えを受け入れるだけでなく、子ども・生徒・社会などに対して「自由にさせる」「甘めに許す」というニュアンスがあります。
If someone is permissive, they allow a lot of freedom and do not control behavior strictly. This adjective is often used about parents, teachers, rules, or social attitudes. It can be neutral or slightly critical, depending on whether that freedom seems reasonable.
