A protestor is a person who publicly shows disagreement with something, such as a law, decision, or social problem. Protestors often join marches, demonstrations, or other public actions. The word is common in news and political discussions.

protest をまず知ると覚えやすい。動詞 protest「抗議する」に -or「その行為をする人」が付いて protestor なので、「抗議する人」と素直に取れる。名詞 protest も stage a protest, join a protest の形でよく出るので、群衆の中で実際に参加している人が protestor。単に不満を持つ人ではなく、政策や処遇に公に異議を示す人という場面で覚えると定着しやすい。なお綴りは protester も非常に一般的なので、同義の別綴りとしてセットで注意。
