Seduction is the act of attracting or tempting someone strongly, often in a sexual or romantic way. It can also mean making someone want something by offering pleasure, beauty, or excitement. The word is used both literally and more generally for strong temptation.

seduction はフランス語 seduction を経て、ラテン語 seductio にさかのぼり、se-「脇へ」+ ducere「導く」から成ります。もとは「脇へ導いて道を外させること」で、そこから「誘惑」の意味が生まれました。関連語は seduce, conduct。
