uncomplicated は un-「〜でない」＋complicated。complicate はラテン語 complicare（com-「共に」＋plicare「折る」）由来で、もとは「折り重ねる・もつれさせる」という感覚です。だから uncomplicated は「折り重なっていない」→「単純な」で、関連語は complex, explicit。
