解説 Definition
名詞の前につき、聞き手にまだ特定されていない単数の可算名詞を「一つの」「ある〜」のように示す語。初めて話題に出す物や人を述べるときに多く使い、数量の一を意識する場合にも用いられる。強く読むときは /eɪ/ になる。
A is used before a singular countable noun when the person or thing is not specific or is mentioned for the first time. It can mean one, or simply any example of that noun. Use it before words that begin with a consonant sound.
