船底に溜まる汚い水や不要な液体、または無価値で馬鹿げたことを指す俗語です。航海用語として実用的な意味と、比喩的な否定的意味の両方があります。
The bilge is the lowest inside part of a ship, where dirty water often collects. In informal British English, bilge can also mean silly or worthless talk. The meaning is usually clear from whether the context is about ships or speech.
