「citadel」は、町や都市を守るために建てられた要塞や城塞のことを指します。歴史的には丘の上などの高所に建てられ、外敵からの防衛拠点として機能しました。比喩的には、ある思想や組織の揺るぎない拠点や砦を意味することもあります。
