王や皇帝、王族などが住む非常に大きく豪華な建物のこと。通常は権力と富の象徴として立てられます。
A palace is a very large and impressive building where a king, queen, or other important ruler lives or lived. It is usually associated with wealth, power, and history. The word can also be used for grand official buildings.

Palace comes from Latin Palatium, the name of the Palatine Hill in Rome. Because emperors had residences there, the place name gradually became a general word for a grand official home. It entered English through Old French palais. A related English word is palatial.
