concentrate の語源・成り立ち Etymology
ラテン語 con-（共に）＋ centrum（中心）から成る。「一つの中心に集める」が原義で、center（中心）やcentric（中心の）と同根。液体を煮詰めて成分を中心に集める→「濃縮する」、注意を一点に集める→「集中する」と派生した。
Concentrate comes from Latin con- meaning "together" and centrum meaning "center." Its original idea was "bring to one center." From that sense, it developed into both "make something denser" and "focus attention on one point."
