Invulnerability is the state of being impossible or very difficult to harm, damage, or defeat. It can describe physical protection, but it is also used more generally for emotional or political strength.

vulnerable「傷つきやすい」を知っていれば、先頭の in- で意味が反転し、「傷つけられない状態」だと追えます。さらに -ity は性質・状態を表す名詞語尾なので、形容詞ではなく「無敵であること」そのもの。invincible が「打ち負かせない」に寄るのに対し、invulnerability は特に攻撃や損傷を受けない防御面を意識しやすい語です。the illusion of invulnerability, near invulnerability のようなまとまりで覚えると、抽象語でも使い所が見えます。
If you know `vulnerable`, this word becomes much easier. `In-` flips the meaning, and `-ity` makes it a state or quality, so it means the state of not being vulnerable. Compare it with `invincible`: that is about not being defeated, while `invulnerability` strongly suggests not being damaged.

invulnerability は in-「否定」+ vulner「傷」+ -able + -ity からなり、vulner はラテン語 vulnus「傷」にさかのぼる。vulnerable も同根で、「傷つけられうる」を打ち消した形だと分かると、無敵が「傷のつきようがない」感覚でつかめる。
