moot は、文脈によって二つの意味で使われる形容詞です。まだ結論が出ておらず「議論の余地がある」という意味と、すでに状況が変わっていて「議論しても実際的な意味がない」という意味があります。法律分野では moot court のように「模擬の」という意味でも使われます。
Moot usually means no longer important or not worth discussing because the situation has changed or the decision no longer matters. In some formal or British contexts, it can also mean open to discussion or debate. Because these meanings differ, you should pay attention to the context.

まず「議論のテーブルに載る論点」として覚えると軸がぶれません。そこから 1) まだ決着しておらず議論の余地がある、2) 状況が変わって今さら論じても実益がない、の二方向に広がります。`moot point` で最頻出。法律・討論の文脈では前者、問題が消えた後の会話では後者になりやすいです。`moot court` も『仮想の争点を議論する法廷練習』なので、語の中心に“争点”があるとつかめます。`debatable` は単に議論できる感じですが、`moot` は『論じること自体』への視線が強い語です。
