描かき直なおされた

解説 Definition

redrawn は redraw(描き直す・引き直す)の過去分詞です。地図・図面・境界線・計画などが、修正や変更のために描き直されたことを表します。

Drawn, mapped, or marked out again, usually to correct, update, or change an earlier version. It is the past participle of redraw and commonly describes maps, diagrams, plans, or boundaries that have been revised.

使い方 Usage

  • be redrawn で「描き直される・引き直される」。地図や境界線を主語にした受け身でよく使います。 Use be redrawn in passive sentences, often with maps or boundaries as the subject.
  • a redrawn diagram のように、名詞の前に置いて「描き直された~」を表すこともできます。 Redrawn can also appear before a noun, as in a redrawn diagram, to describe something drawn again.

覚え方のコツ Memory Tip

draw–drew–drawn に re-「再び」を付けると redraw–redrew–redrawn です。地図の線を引き直す場面を想像し、過去分詞は redrawed ではなく redrawn と覚えましょう。

Add re-, “again,” to draw–drew–drawn to get redraw–redrew–redrawn. Picture drawing the lines on a map again. The past participle is redrawn, not redrawed.

例文

The map was redrawn after the new road was built.

新しい道路が造られた後、その地図は描き直されました。

The redrawn diagram made the process easier to understand.

描き直された図によって、その手順が理解しやすくなりました。

redrawn の語源・成り立ち Etymology

re-(再び)+ draw(描く)の過去分詞形。drawは古英語 dragan(引く・引きずる)に由来し、ペンを引いて線を描く動作から「描く」の意味に発展した。関連語:withdraw(引き出す)、draft(下書き)。地図や図面などを描き直す場面で多用される。

Redrawn consists of re-, “again,” and drawn, the irregular past participle of draw. Draw comes from Old English dragan, originally meaning “to pull or drag.” The sense “make a picture or line” developed from the physical action of pulling a tool across a surface. Redraw follows the same irregular pattern as draw: redraw, redrew, redrawn, and denotes making or marking something out again.
