塩辛いとは、塩の味が強く、しょっぱい状態を表します。食べ物に塩が多く含まれている様子を指す形容詞です。
Salty means tasting of salt or containing a lot of salt. It is commonly used to describe food such as soup, snacks, or seafood. If something is too salty, the salt taste is stronger than desired.

salt を知っていれば、そのまま「塩っぽい」→「塩辛い」と取れる。-y は rainy, cloudy と同じく「〜っぽい」を作る形容詞語尾なので、salt + y の形で覚えると定着しやすい。味の並びでは sweet / sour / bitter / spicy とセットで整理すると混同しにくい。crisps are salty, salty soup など、食べ物の味を言う場面でよく出る。なお spicy は「辛い」であって salty ではない。
