simp
(俗語)貢ぐ人
解説 Definition
好意を持つ相手に過度に尽くしたり媚びたりする人を指すインターネット俗語。
A simp is a slang word for a person who gives too much attention, admiration, or support to someone they like, often in a way that seems excessive or lacking self-respect. It is usually used online and often has a mocking tone. Because it can sound insulting, it should be used carefully.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
まず simple を思い出すと覚えやすいです。相手の前で判断が単純になり、冷静さより好意が先に出て、尽くしすぎたり媚びたりする人が simp。SNSでは simp for A で「Aに入れ込みすぎる」、He's a simp. で「貢ぎすぎ・必死すぎ」の軽い嘲笑を込めて使われます。kind や loyal のような前向き語ではなく、balance を失っている感じが核。pimp とつづりが近いので混同注意です。
Remember this slang word with money and gifts around it. If someone keeps buying things, sending donations, or spending too much to get attention from one person, `simp` often appears. It is not just a `fan`; the idea is giving too much and hoping for something back.

simp の語源・成り立ち Etymology
simp は米俗語で、1903年に simpleton の短縮形として現れました。simpleton は simple+-ton で、simple はラテン語 simplex「単純な」に由来します。「相手に甘すぎる人」という俗義もその延長と見え、simple や simplistic も同根です。
Simp appeared in American slang around 1903 as a shortened form of simpleton. Simpleton comes from simple, from Latin simplex, meaning "single" or "plain," plus the suffix -ton. The later slang sense for a person who is too soft or too eager toward someone seems to have grown from the older idea of a foolish or overly simple person. Related English words include simple and simplistic.
