Sufism is a spiritual and mystical tradition within Islam that focuses on inner faith, love of God, and personal spiritual growth. It is often discussed in religion, history, and culture. The word refers to beliefs and practices rather than a separate religion.

まず Sufi（スーフィー＝イスラム神秘主義の修行者・信奉者）を核に置き、-ism が付くと「思想・主義・運動」になる型で覚えるとよいです。Buddhism, Hinduism と同じ作りなので、Sufism は「Sufi たちの思想・伝統」。宗教名 Islam と別物ではなく、その内側にある内面的・神秘的実践を指す語だと整理すると定着します。人を指す Sufi と、思想全体を指す Sufism を対で覚えるのがコツです。
Use the pattern you may already know from `Buddhism` or `Hinduism`: a person or group word plus `-ism` becomes a belief system or tradition. So `Sufi` is the person, and `Sufism` is the teaching or spiritual path. Keep those two forms together in memory. It is also helpful to connect it with the wider word `Islam`, not as something separate from it.
