超越性（ちょうえつせい）とは、通常の限界や範囲を超えた性質や特性のことです。肉体的、精神的、または知的な次元を越えた存在や経験の質を指します。哲学や宗教では、人間の理性を超えた神聖な次元の特性を表します。
Transcendence is the state of going beyond ordinary limits, experience, or understanding. It is often used in philosophy, religion, and spirituality to describe something higher than normal human life or the physical world. More generally, it can also mean rising above difficulty or ordinary conditions.

まず動詞 transcend を先に押さえると覚えやすいです。transfer, transport などの trans- は「向こうへ・越えて」の感覚が共通していて、transcend は「限界・枠・常識を越える」。そこに名詞化の -ence が付いたのが transcendence です。単なる「すごさ」ではなく、普通の比較や尺度そのものが届かない感じが核。spiritual transcendence, human transcendence のように、哲学・宗教・芸術で「日常を超えた次元」を語る場面と結びつけると定着します。

transcendence の語源・成り立ち Etymology
transcendence はラテン語 transcendere にさかのぼり、trans「越えて」+ scandere「登る」が骨格です。ascend や descend と同じ scandere 系なので、ただ高いのでなく「境界を登って越える」から『超越』になると腑に落ちます。
Transcendence comes from Latin transcendere, made from trans, meaning "beyond," and scandere, meaning "to climb." The original image is of climbing beyond a limit or boundary. That physical idea later became the abstract sense of going beyond ordinary experience, limits, or understanding.
